Jiande D. Chen, PhD, is a professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He holds a joint appointment in biomedical engineering. Considered the “father of electrogastrography,” Dr. Chen has conducted pioneering research aimed at observing and measuring the stomach’s electrical system. Dr. Chen received his B.S. from East China Normal University in Shanghai. He earned his Ph.D. from Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium. Dr. Chen joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2014.
