Rachel Zoffness PhD

Assistant Clinical Professor, UCSF School of Medicine

Rachel Zoffness, PhD, is a pain psychologist, international speaker, medical consultant, educator, and author specializing in chronic pain and illness. Dr. Zoffness is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the UCSF School of Medicine, where she provides pain education for medical residents, and serves as pain education faculty at Dartmouth Hitchcock hospital.

She is the author of The Pain Management Workbook, the Chronic Pain & Illness Workbook for Teens, and the Psychology Today column "Pain, Explained." 

She was trained at Brown, Columbia, University of California San Diego, San Diego State University, the NYU Child Study Center, Mt-Sinai-St. Luke's Hospital, and the Mindful Center. She is the co-President of the American Association of Pain Psychology (AAPP), and serves on the board of the Society of Pediatric Pain Medicine. She provides lectures and trainings around the world, serves as a consultant to hospitals and health professionals, and consults on the development of pain education programs worldwide.
