Dr. Steve M. Aydin DO

Chief of PMR & Interventional Pain Management, Kayal Orthopaedic Center

Steve M. Aydin, DO completed his anesthesia-based pain management fellowship at the University of Michigan Health System in 2010. After fellowship he joined Manhattan Spine and Pain and was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of PMR in 2013.

In addition to specializing in pain management, Dr. Aydin is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He completed his training at the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, in New Jersey. He took an avid interest in pain management early in his training and worked to address it in patients with traumatic brain injury, stroke, and spinal cord injury.

Dr. Aydin, while a clinical assistant professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Hofstra –Northwell Health School of Medicine, also works closely with the resident and medical students.

He has written several book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles on pain management. He has published journal articles on sacroiliac joint dysfunction, phantom pain, and radiculopathy, as well as book chapters on the treatment of sacroiliac joint dysfunction, interventional pain techniques/injections, regenerative medicine treatments, and core strengthening in athletes. He is also PMR section editor for the Pain Physician Journal.

For his commitment to treating patients, teaching, and research he was given the Teacher of the Year Award in 2014, for the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ Medical School He has also been awarded the Gold Humanism Honors Award, the University of Michigan’s “Make a Difference Award" and “The Outstanding Male Senior Award” at Cook College –Rutgers University, for his commitment to community service and patient care.

Dr. Aydin has been recognized for his patient care and practice on the New York Times Magazine’s “Super Doctors” for the last three years.
