Dr. Shivanand P. Lad MD, PhD

Shivanand Lad is at the forefront of Neuromodulation and pioneering new approaches to perform surgeries less invasively and more safely.

 Dr. Lad is currently an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at Duke University Medical Center with a focus in Neuromodulation. He completed his MD and PhD in Biochemistry at Chicago Medical School and his neurosurgical residency and fellowship training at Stanford University Medical Center. Dr. Lad brings his exceptional technical skills, warm personality and professionalism to Duke. His team offers a wide variety of surgical and non-surgical services to patients from across the US and internationally.

Patients whose quality of life has been impacted by trigeminal neuralgia, atypical facial pain, cancer, Parkinson’s, Essential Tremor, nerve injury, stroke, failed back surgery, limb amputation, and other causes may all be candidates for advanced neuromodulation approaches. The Duke Neuromodulation program is involved in a number of clinical research studies to better understand and develop new approaches to help patients.
