Synopsis

Most clinical evidence to date supports the use of spinal cord stimulation (SCS) in the case of persistent neuropathic pain following spine surgery. But there is a large population of patients suffering from chronic neuropathic and refractory back pain who do not respond to conventional medical management (CMM) and have no history of back surgery and are not good candidates for surgery. We enrolled these non-surgical refractory back pain (NSRBP) patients, in multi-center randomized clinical trial and demonstrated that 10kHz SCS produced significant improvement in pain, disability, quality of life and reduced opioid use compared to CMM at 6 months.
